The importance of having spare car and van keys

We have been inundated recently with companies becoming more aware of the importance of having spare keys to their vehicles out on the road.

Most noticeably, a local security company recently had one of their staff members go AWOL and had abandoned their work van – operative and keys nowhere to be found!

They had a tracker on the vehicle, so, fortunately, it was found about a mile outside of Maidstone, but they did not have a spare key, so I was contacted to attend site, make a new van key for the vehicle and generate a spare key whilst I was there too.

This made the company owner significantly more aware of the importance of spare keys to his vans, so about a week later, I was contacted to go and attend their offices near Edenbridge to make new spare keys to all their vans. I spent the best part of the morning making and programming spare keys to vehicles including a Peugeot Bipper, Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Peugeot Expert, Ford Transit, and Vauxhall Astra. This gave the owner peace of mind that if ever the same thing happened again, or a key was lost or broken, that the van or car would remain on the road, money could still be made and customers would not be let down.

If you have a company fleet of vehicles with only a single working key, or in fact only one vehicle at home with just the one key, do get in touch as we can help you stay mobile – having a spare car or van key keeps you moving in the event one is lost or broken, is always cheaper than having no keys at all and saves the frustration of losing your keys.
